IBMA Kyokushin Kai Affiliation Application
Applications for affiliation with IBMA Kyokushin Kai are accepted primarily online. Organizations and dojos wishing to affiliate should apply through the form on this page.
Submitting the application form does not establish affiliation. The application will first be reviewed, followed by the required assessment and procedures.
Before Applying for Affiliation
Affiliation does not make an organization or dojo a subordinate branch of headquarters. The history and independence of each organization are respected.
Existing organization names and leadership may generally be maintained after affiliation. Independence in regular training and daily operations is also respected.
Safety management and instructional ethics are shared priorities. Separate standards apply to the use of names, logos, and dan certification.
Who May Apply
There are two main affiliation categories. The appropriate category is determined by the size and structure of the applicant.
Affiliated Organization
This category is mainly for organizations operating multiple dojos or branches. Existing names and organizational structures may be maintained.
Affiliated Dojo
This category is mainly for individual dojos and smaller organizations. An affiliated dojo may later become an affiliated organization.
You may apply even if you are unsure which category applies. The office will review your information and provide guidance.
Main Requirements for Affiliation
The following are the basic requirements for affiliation. Individual circumstances will be reviewed after application.
- Support the principles of IBMA and IBMA Kyokushin Kai
- Conduct ongoing martial arts activities
- Have a clearly identified representative or chief instructor
- Maintain appropriate safety management
- Observe proper ethics as martial arts instructors
- Comply with laws and accepted social standards
- Respect the independence of other affiliated organizations and dojos
IBMA Membership Registration
Affiliated organizations and dojos register with IBMA as Supporting Members. Individual IBMA General Member registration is also required for affiliated members.
In principle, five or more General Members are required. New applicants may begin the affiliation process with three or more members.
If affiliation begins with three members, the number should reach five by the first renewal. Special circumstances may be discussed individually.
An IBMA Regular Member is not required when initially applying for affiliation. At least one Regular Member is required when applying for official certification.
Certified Instructors
You may apply even if your organization does not yet have an IBMA Kyokushin Kai Certified Instructor. Instructor development should continue after affiliation.
The appropriate timing for instructor placement will depend on each organization. A development plan may be discussed individually.
Kyu and Dan Systems
Independent kyu and dan systems operated by affiliated organizations are respected. They must be distinguished from official IBMA Kyokushin Kai dan certification.
Affiliation alone does not authorize an organization to issue official IBMA Kyokushin Kai dan ranks. Official ranks require a separate review and certification process.
The permitted range of independent dan certification is reviewed individually. The representative’s rank and the grading structure will be considered.
Use of Names and Logos
Affiliation does not grant unrestricted use of the IBMA Kyokushin Kai name or logo. Affiliation status must be displayed according to established guidelines.
Use on tournament names, certificates, and other materials may require separate confirmation. Prior approval may be required depending on the intended use.
