KWU SENSHI is an international organization dedicated to the development of Kyokushin Karate and the advancement of Budo and martial arts.
Through international tournaments, seminars, training camps, instructor exchanges, and other activities, KWU SENSHI creates opportunities for martial artists from around the world to learn, compete, and connect beyond differences in nationality and organizational affiliation.

Akira Masuda and KWU SENSHI
Akira Masuda serves as President of KWU SENSHI, assuming responsibility for its activities and future development.
As President, Masuda believes that the mission of KWU SENSHI should extend beyond the development of international competition.
While recognizing the importance and value of tournaments and competitive activities, he seeks to develop KWU SENSHI as an international Budo organization with a broader purpose that includes:
Human development through Budo
Instructor and leadership development
International exchange
Research into techniques and training methods
Transmission of Budo to future generations
Contribution to society
Drawing upon his experience as a competitor, instructor, and lifelong researcher of Budo, Masuda believes he has a responsibility to help realize the international potential of KWU SENSHI for the benefit of future generations.
Responsibility and Commitment as President
KWU SENSHI brings together outstanding martial artists, instructors, and competitors from many countries around the world.
To serve as President of such an organization is not merely an honorary position.
Masuda regards it as a position of responsibility — a responsibility to earn the trust of those involved in KWU SENSHI and to contribute to its future.
In the martial arts, strength and competitive achievement naturally receive considerable attention.
However, for Budo to retain lasting value in society, developing strong competitors alone is not enough.
Budo should also develop people who can discipline themselves, respect others, confront difficulties, and apply the abilities they have cultivated not only for themselves but also for society.
Masuda therefore regards the following as important responsibilities of his presidency:
To develop competition while preserving the deeper values of Budo.
To respect tradition while continuing to study and develop Budo for a new era.
To create opportunities for martial artists from different countries and organizations to learn from one another.
To transmit not only martial techniques, but also the values of Budo itself to future generations.
These are responsibilities that Akira Masuda accepts as President of KWU SENSHI.
IBMA Kyokushin Kai and KWU SENSHI
Today, IBMA Kyokushin Kai and KWU SENSHI maintain an exceptionally close relationship.
Although they remain organizationally independent entities, they share many common objectives in the development of Budo, human development, technical research, competition, international exchange, and instructor education.
With Akira Masuda deeply involved in the activities of IBMA Kyokushin Kai while also serving as President of KWU SENSHI, the two organizations currently cooperate so closely in philosophy, activities, human exchange, and international development that it would not be an exaggeration to say that, in many areas, they work substantially as one.
For IBMA Kyokushin Kai, KWU SENSHI is therefore more than simply an overseas cooperating organization.
It is an important international partner through which martial artists can meet, competition can develop, technical and educational ideas can be exchanged, and Budo can be explored on an international scale.
At the same time, the technical research, instructional experience, and approach to human development cultivated within IBMA Kyokushin Kai can contribute to the continuing development of KWU SENSHI.
The relationship is therefore one of close cooperation while maintaining the organizational independence of both bodies.
Beyond Competition
Competition is an important part of KWU SENSHI.
It provides practitioners with opportunities to test their skills, challenge their abilities, and learn from others.
But competition is not the ultimate purpose of Budo.
Winning a match.
Developing powerful techniques.
Achieving a high level of physical ability.
What do we learn through these experiences?
How do they help us develop ourselves?
How do we learn to respect others?
And how can the strength we develop through Budo be applied to our lives and society?
When we begin to address these questions, competitive experience acquires a deeper meaning as Budo.
One of Masuda’s aspirations is for KWU SENSHI to develop not only outstanding competitors, but also Budo practitioners capable of contributing to the world around them.
Tradition and Innovation
Kyokushin Karate possesses a spirit, technical heritage, and training culture that have been cultivated over many years.
This heritage deserves to be respected and transmitted.
At the same time, preserving tradition does not mean refusing all change.
We must study what has been inherited from the past, examine its meaning and underlying principles, and deepen our understanding of its value.
On that foundation, we can incorporate new knowledge gained through competition, research, education, science, and international exchange, and continue developing Budo in ways that are safer, more rational, and more meaningful for human development.
Only by putting down deep roots in tradition can we grow new branches toward the future.
This principle also provides an important connection between the future activities of IBMA Kyokushin Kai and KWU SENSHI.
Budo That Connects the World
Budo has the potential to connect people beyond differences in nationality, language, culture, and religion.
People train together.
They test their skills against one another.
They learn from one another while maintaining mutual respect.
Through such experiences, forms of understanding and trust can develop that are sometimes difficult to create through words alone.
Masuda believes that KWU SENSHI has the potential to bring this power of Budo to a truly international level.

Toward these goals, the cooperation between KWU SENSHI and IBMA Kyokushin Kai will continue to deepen.
Message from Akira Masuda
I regard my position as President of KWU SENSHI not as an honor, but as a responsibility.
Throughout the world, there are many outstanding martial artists and instructors, as well as young people who aspire to develop themselves through Budo.
I believe it is our responsibility to create opportunities for these people to learn from one another, compete with one another, respect one another, and discover their own potential.
We must also ensure that the Budo we have inherited is not preserved merely as a legacy of the past.
We must continue to study it, develop it into something meaningful for people living today, and transmit it to future generations.
That is the role I seek to fulfill as President of KWU SENSHI.
I have gained many experiences through my years as a competitor.
At the same time, through many years of continuing to practice and study Budo, I have learned that its true value cannot be explained by victory and defeat alone.
I want to apply those experiences and lessons to the future development of KWU SENSHI.
Inherit tradition, study it deeply, and carry it into the future.
Connect martial artists around the world and develop the next generation.
And above all:
Apply Budo to Life — and to Society.
With this purpose in mind, I will continue to fulfill my responsibilities as President of KWU SENSHI.
